Dr. Gianluigi Telara (Lucca, Italy)

Dr Gian Luigi Telara (born 1958 in Vermont, USA) received his Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pisa in 1983, magna cum laude. He is also Diplomate from the la Scuola Superiore Sant’ Anna di Studi Universitari e di Perfezionamento (Collegio Medico) in Pisa (1986).

From 1989 he has a Private Practice in Lucca (Italy) and from 1999 he works as a prosthodontist.

From 2004 to 2006 he has attended three annual Masters in Implantology, Bone and Soft Tissues Surgery, under Dr. Schiroli Guido in Florence and Genova (Italy).

In 2003 he has attended Dr Schiroli’ s Sinus Lift Surgical techniques” and in 2005 he has attended “Immediate Loading in Implantology: Biological Bases” in Florence.

In 2004 he has attended the “Updates in Implantology” Course held by CE Misch, A. Piattelli and M. Degidi.

In 2004 and 2005 he has attended the “New Technologies in Dentistry: Laser Surgery and Therapy” Course at the University of Genova.

In 2006 he has attended “Computer Guided Flapless Surgery, CAD CAM Implantology and CAD CAM prosthetic components” Course in Rome, Prof Rodriguez y Baena.

In 2006 he has attended CE Misch Advanced Bone and Soft Tissue Grafting  Course at the Misch International Implant Institute (in Detroit).

In 2007 he has attended as a Delegate and Poster Speaker the 1st ICOI Italy Meeting “Success Criteria in Implantology”.

From 2008 to 2009 he has attended M Pikos Advanced Bone and Soft Tissue Grafting Course I and II at the MAP Institute (Tampa, Florida).

In 2009 he has attended Dr Hamid Shafie’ s “Immediate Fixed Overdentures Course in Chicago.

In 2009 he has attended Edward P Allen Soft Tissue Surgery Course at the Center for Advanced Dental Education (Dallas).

In 2008-2009 he has been Visiting Professor at the University of Bari (Italy), Dental School.

In 2010 he has attended Pontoriero and Carnevale “Parodontal Therapy: the state-of-the-art” Course in Treviso (Italy) and Michael Pikos and Maurice Salama “Hard and Soft Tissue regeneration in Implantology” Course in Venice (Italy).

He has partecipated at the BioHorizons Global Symposium (in 2008, San Diego; in 2009, Chicago) as a Delegate and as a Poster Speaker on Post-extractive Overdenture Immediate Loading Case Reports.

He has been Visiting professor at the University of Genoa, Italy (2012).

From 2008 and 2014 he has been Speaker in many Congresses in Italy and abroad:

for the Simplant Academy (Pisa, Torino, Bologna, Firenze, Wien, Monterey-CA, Rome 2013, Padova 2014)

and for the CAI (Computer Aided Implantology)-Academy (Pisa 2009, New York 2010, Verona 2011, Lucca 2012 and 2014; University of Genoa 2012, Rome 2013, Lyon 2014, Florence 2015), on implant topics with a particular interest in Guided Implantology.

He has been a ANDI (Italian Dentist National Association) speaker in Cagliari, Messina and Prato.

From 2013 he is Adjunct Professor at the 2nd Level Postgraduate Master Course at la Sapienza University (Rome, Italy).

In Nov 2014 he has attended the Dr Fernando Duarte Course on Zygomatic Implants at the Clitrofa Center in Porto (Portugal).

Nationally and internationally published Author in Computer Guided Implantology topics: in 2009 he has deposited a patent on a device allowing for accuracy in Guided Implantology, and he has developed the “Thread and Hex-timing, Implant Phase Theory” which has been published on Implant Tribune in 2011, on Implants International, 2011-2012 and CAD-CAM International, UK, France, and Dental Tribune America in 2012)
